In 2014, the London-born multidisciplinary artist Sevan Garo embarked on a transformative journey, driven by an invitation to have his first solo show out of university titled 'Your Engagement has Consequences' in The Hague, Holland. Intrigued by the title's profound implications, Sevan found resonance in the untamed majesty of glaciers, symbolizing both the raw power of nature and the human quest for belonging amidst its vast landscapes.

Venturing into the heart of the Alps, Sevan sought to capture the essence of Europe's iconic Mer de Glace, the 'Sea of Ice'. Armed with little more than his vision and a weathered ice axe, he embarked on an odyssey of creation, unsure if his endeavor would bear fruit.

Months later, as Sevan meticulously installed his sculptures in The Hague, tragedy struck when one of his creations shattered before his eyes. Amidst the fragments, however, he found inspiration – a shard of broken sculpture, a symbol of resilience and transformation.

From this pivotal moment emerged GAROGOSI, a fusion of sculpture and jewellery that echoed the rugged beauty of glaciers and mountains. Sevan's artistic journey led him to Geneva, where he honed his craft alongside luminaries such as Frank Muller, Chopard, and Piaget. His collaboration with prestigious brands like Louis Vuitton and Burberry, coupled with his TED Talk and appearances on Sky News, propelled him to international acclaim.

Drawing from his Armenian heritage, Sevan's work resonates with the spirit of 'We Are Our Mountains', a symbol of resilience and identity for Armenians. Through his art, Sevan invites us to explore the profound connections between landscape, heritage, and the human quest for belonging.
